This week I thought I would feature two little fun and useful apps rather than something more substantial.
SLIDEPAD
The first app is Slidepad, a very nice little note pad for your Mac. For me it replaces using Stickies if I need to write a quick note. The downside of Stickies to me is that they clutter my desktop and are not as clear to read as I would like – in fact they kind of annoy me. Slidepad is basically hidden unless you move your mouse to the left side of your screen ( or you can set it up on the right, you can also set it up to be activated by your keyboard instead). When you mouse over to the left of your screen it shoots out and you can make any notes you like, when you move it away it retreats. Handy and cool!

PRINT IT
The second app I would like to feature this week is called Print-it. I was continually annoyed that when I need to print an area of my screen I always had to first create a png file on my desktop, which I then had to (hopefully) remember to put in the trash. The purpose of Print-it is easy, it takes the step away of having to create a file to print. Simply by clicking control-alt-P and highlighting the area you want to print, the app activates the print button and it prints your selected area. For some this may not seem like a big deal but if you are like me and frequently need to print sections of a screen, it is actually quite time saving. According to MacUpdate this app was released last spring but I will warn you, their website looks like it was done in FrontPage ‘98. The cost of this product is also quite high in my opinion at $29.

I think I still like Evernote better for “sticky” like note situations – than I have it on my laptop and my iPhone.
