This is the way humanity seems to evolve, we move towards the path of least resistance and sometimes that means we really have to amp up our efforts to succeed or in extreme cases to save ourselves.

On a humorous note, we have our ball throwing device that some engineer made for his dog rather than compulsively playing with him. But there are other types of innovations that have been developed which improve our lifestyle, standard of living and in some cases even save lives.

In his videoblog, Terry Tamminen, an Energy and Environmental Strategist discusses the concept of necessity and invention in regards to our current environmental crises. He takes a pragmatic approach revealing that while not all non-traditional energy producing efforts are perfect, we are still heading in the right direction.

Through needs-based innovation humanity has produced important innovations which have shaped our world such as the creation of the automobile or the Internet allowing humanity to share and communicate like never before.
