Richard,

Thanks for all your thoughts. I think many businesses on the web go through stages of development as we have and at different moments have different focuses. We are very excited about our new network and the positive response we've had from our audience. Thanks for the extra information about Scott Stulberg who appeared on the first episode of Fine Art Photography Weekly, he is a wonderful person and a very talented photographer. I hope you will continue to check in with our site as new shows are added.

Best, Christy

Hello Christy -- Today is Sunday August 8, 2010 -- about 40 days since your blog post. That's pretty irrelevant other than it's just happenstance that I am here today -- and I will breadcrumb my tracks back in a sec. But just as I began to write a comment here to ask a question, I noted that the first prior blog post to this one (June 30, 2010) is November 27th, 2009 with just a handful before that.

I'm a UX Designer/ web portal developer in San Francisco, and while I am prepping my own 'next venture' I have reluctantly gotten aboard the Social Networking Train that someone in Tech Blog Writing decided should become the driver of All Things Web, and thus it was said, and thus it is so, despite my continuing concerns: REALLY? That's what we've all been waiting for: Tweets. But now, not just tweets, but retweets as SOCIAL CURRENCY.

Jesus Christ. I was here for the dotcom boom-bust from 97-2000 and I thought the industry had weeded out the B.S. language factory after "incentivize" was created around '97. But I'm off track. I will jump quickly on track. So I work with touchscreen devices, and while prepping this new business I had an intern help me put up a quick blog -- and I created a background for a twitter channel. Recently we blogged about the new release of Android OS called FROYO...

In the comments was something from "Topsy"... I thought it was spam, so I moderated it off. Then I looked up "what is topsy?", and I see it is located in my own back yard here in San Francisco. And I see the main article about them on TechCrunch has numerous comments by your husband Peter -- but this is all from 2009. And all of the discussion in that article is about "does Topsy have a chance at survival?" "Why did they need 15million in VC funding?" "Looks like they regrouped and leeched onto twitter as their whole model" -- and of course 'Retweets are the new social currency".

So I figure -- Okay, they're not spam, let me go APPROVE that auto-comment, not that it matters though, because at this point we're not even trying to get noticed... We have next to no traffic -- and it's fine. We're just sandboxing while our real product gets developed.

So I approved it, then since Peter Urban made numerous comments of note in the TechCrunch article from 2009 on Topsy, including a link to one of his own twitter comments, I clicked on it just as a natural linking inclination.

And I see his bio section on Twitter, and it says smibs.com - then I look to the left for the current tweet and see -- Oh interesting timing, looks like he has just launched a new web TV network/site. So I click THAT link -- and come to Smibs.tv -- and by all appearances, that tells me that TODAY, August 8, 2010, you have just launched the TV network, and I can watch your first show.

Since I worked in film & TV development & production in L.A. years ago, I thought, "I'm always interested in video -- i cannot stand text for the life of me, so let me take a look"... But I clicked back to his twitter page to ask "Hi, can you tell me how did you come up with the name smibs?" ... and I posted... Then I came right here to your blog and that was my original intent -- to ask that same question here.

But all in 30 seconds that changed... when I saw the sate of your post, then scrolled down and saw the others being in 2009 --- then I clicked back to Peter's twitter page and I wondered -- is that current? 2010 or is it frozen at 2009. Because then I clicked through on the smibs.tv page, still thinking today was launch date, but then realized, NO.. It launched earlier.

But since there are no YEARS in the dated entries I don't even know.

I started out just wanting to ask "hey, why did you use the name SMIBS ?" ... My background in L.A. and SF includes marketing design and branding as well, so I was just trying to see if there was anything I missed in the ABOUT section of the site... But I saw nothing either way about the name.

So, here is my wrapup: Several of the links that were in that TECH CRUNCH article about TOPSY -- with various people speculating whether or not it would survive -- actually were now expired on various sites --- all speaking to the blowing with the wind nature of so much of what is happening in the web-tech field now... So I found it all very ironic. Only to then end on the possibility that my entire chain-reaction of events -- from my blog - to - topsy "retweet tracking engine" - to tech crunch - to your husband's posts - to his twitter account - to your web TV network -- to this blog post -- caps in an enterprise that has also come and gone?

It's just confusing. Lastly -- Scott's work is absolutely stunning. And I'm wondering if his father was Gordon Stulberg who was a Hollywood Film Studio Exec at Fox, Columbia and Polygram.. He had a Chair endowed at the American Film Institute back when I attended in 1980-81 and the Institute's Chief Librarian was a huge champion of him. **Footnote** Lots of serendipity today --- according to IMDB, yes: scott is his son: Son - Scott Stulberg DOB - 10/30/1956. ... Well -- maybe there was a point to this while thing after all, but i enjoy commenting free-form -- as the complete antithesis of our culture's "140" obsession. Hmm, turns out Gordon, his father, was born in Toronto...
