I work all day on my laptop, and am always looking for ways to increase efficiency. A useful tool I have discovered for Apple computers is Desktop Manager. It allows me to create multiple desktops, and switch between them with your mouse or hotkeys. This is useful because many windows can be opened, and spread across several virtual desktops, reducing clutter. With my previous laptop, a 12’’ Mac, Desktop Manager was an essential tool for increasing desktop area. The most recent stable version can be downloaded here. It does not make any changes to the operating system, but runs on top of your usual desktop. Desktop Manager won’t start automatically, but by going into settings, accounts, and login items, you can have multiple desktops every time you start your computer. The concept of virtual desktops is not new. There are other applications that perform similar functions for Apple computers. However, they often have many unnecessary and complex features, as well as being unstable. Desktop Manager is a no headache solution for cluttered screens.
Forrest, I like that tool too and grew accustomed to it’s advantages very quickly. I also run an older windows laptop with XP on it, do you know if there is something similar that runs on XP?
Thx, Peter
