The internet is a funny place. The oddest things end up becoming smash hits, and the kookiest sites end up with passionate followings. The blog Waxy.org featured a post about the Top Ten Most Hated Things on the Web. At the top of the list was cilantro, the herb consisting of the leaves from the coriander plant, often used to season Indian, Thai, and Mexican cuisine. Apparently, there is a website that is entirely devoted to the hatred of this innocent garnish. ihatecilantro.com has 1358 members as of this writing. It has a blog, a newsletter, a store where you can buy “I Hate Cilantro” t-shirts, a very active forum, and a pageful of charts and graphs, including the one pictured above, depicting various anti-cilantro statistics. The site also publishes members’ haiku and stories about their cilantro hatred.

I don’t know what to say. The internet is a very funny place…
